Born in Johnston County on September 12, 1946, he was a son to the late Millard Arthur Pulley and Grace Hardee Pulley. Wayne graduated from Clayton High School in 1964. He served in the United States Navy and received a National Defense Medal for his service. Wayne worked many years in the auto parts industry; Clayton Auto Parts and Leith Auto in Raleigh. In 1990, he started working with Caterpillar in Clayton as a Technician and retired from there in 2010.
Wayne attended Grace Fellowship Church in Clayton.
A funeral service will be held in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home at 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 14. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM just prior to the service. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.
In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his son, Millard Woodrow "Woody" Pulley; sister, Kaye Pulley Robinson; and brother, Donald Pulley.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Madelyn Jones Pulley of Clayton,; daughter, Denise Pulley Dudley and husband Andy of Smithfield; granddaughters, Carrie and Allison, both of Smithfield; great-grandson, Easton of Smithfield; sisters, Frances Godwin and husband Doug of Latta, SC, Deborah Benson and husband Jim of Clayton, Evelyn Clayton and husband Leland of Clayton; brothers, Dennis Pulley, Glenn Pulley and his wife Tammy, all of Clayton; brother-in-law David (Lois) Jones of Clayton; sister-in-law LaRue (Don) Crowe of Wendell; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, special neighbors Rick and Christa Plemmons, and beloved pet, Smokey.
The family would like to thank Jessica Hollis from Summit Healthcare for her care and compassion this past year.
