Michael David Wallace, age 66, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023. Mike was born in Wake County on October 24, 1956, to the late Royal D. and Ethel Jones Wallace. Mike worked for Western Wake Fire Department for over 25 years and also served the Clayton Fire Department. Mike served as the safety officer and also held many positions in both departments.
Mike is survived by his wife, Jan Wallace; a daughter, Lindsay Schneider (Emily); stepdaughter, Heather Padgett (Will); stepson, David Brown (Jess); sister, Pat McClure (Jim); granddaughter, Hazel Schneider, step grandchildren, Liam Padgett and Aedan Padgett. Sisters-in-law, Susan Shipp, Kim Digh (Eddie), and Cathy Boyette (Harold). Along with his parents, Mike is also preceded in death by his sister, Marty Bumgarner.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 2:00pm at Way of Life Baptist Church, 2129 Harmony Court in Clayton with the family receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 1:00-2:00pm. The interment will follow the services at Pinecrest Memorial Park, 12830 US 70 Bus Hwy W, Clayton.
