Mark Anthony Eakes

Mark Anthony Eakes, age 67, of Clayton, North Carolina went peacefully on Sunday, May 30, 2021, following complications of stroke. Mark was born December 16, 1953 in Smithfield, NC.

Mark loved his family. He is survived by brother Earl Eakes, Jr. (Patsy) of Mt. Airy, North Carolina, sister Joy Mercer (Art) of Clayton, North Carolina and brother David Eakes of Garner, North Carolina; nieces Angela Henderson (Patrick), Kristen Johnson (Mark), and Cynthia Pinkston; great nieces Christa Mercer, Alivia, Avery, Aleah, and Ardyn Johnson, great-great nieces Hazley and Bristol Cook.

Mark taught at East Carolina University while pursuing a Masters in Psychology.

The Chapel will be available for am open Casket Viewing, Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at McLaurin Funeral Home, 12830 Us 70 Business Hwy W, Clayton, North Carolina 27520. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, 3414 N Shiloh Rd., Garner, North Carolina 27529.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are JW Beasley, Earl Eakes, Jr., David Eakes and Art Mercer.
