Marjorie Ellis Parrish went peacefully to her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. Marjorie was born in Johnston County on May 21, 1945, to the late Joseph and Ada Pollard Ellis. Growing up, she would help her family of eight siblings in the tobacco fields and spend time with her family and friends. She was a graduate of Clayton High School Class of 1963.
Marjorie was a woman of faith. She was a wonderful wife of the late Loumas Parrish; mom to Gil Flowers and Cecelia Parrish McLamb; stepmom to Ed Parrish and Sandy Parrish, and the late Dennis Parrish, and “Mema” to Elissa, Patrick, Gabe, Darrius, Madyson, and Maggie. She loved her family, especially her six grandchildren. Marjorie was always so proud of the accomplishments of them all.
When she could, Marjorie would attend church and go to gospel sings. She was a former Sunday School teacher and Teen Leader. Marjorie always loved to listen to music and read poems. She would always send cards to everyone she knew for any occasion. Always caring and did what she could for you when she could, Marjorie was there. She was a praying woman and would always talk to people about Jesus.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 12:00pm in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with the family receiving friends starting at 11:00am. The interment will follow the services at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
