Lilian was only five years old and went peacefully at home surrounded by her Daddy, Mommy, and twin sister Everly. She fought the most admirable and courageous battle with a brain cancer called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) for nearly seven months. And she did so with such strength, such determination, and so much heart.
The family will be receiving family and friends from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, November 11, 2022 at McLaurin Funeral Home, 12830 US 70 Business Highway West, Clayton, North Carolina. Lilian’s burial will be held privately for the family and a Memorial Service will be scheduled at a later time.
Lilian was born in Wake County on March 8, 2017, along with her twin sister Everly, to Everett and Miranda Blackman. Lilian was born prematurely at 33 weeks and spent the first few weeks of her life in the NICU. She was a fighter from day one. We knew then that her strength was to be admired and would endure. Lilian was full of smiles, laughing, dancing, and loved to play with her family and friends. She had recently started Kindergarten and was so incredibly smart. Lilian loved all things nature and she had a passion for butterflies and turtles. All throughout her life, and even more so after the brain cancer diagnosis, her family embodied the words “fun” and “happy”. Thanks to an astounding family and community, some of the memories made include: a trip to Disney, beach and mountain trips, visiting a sea turtle hospital, riding her first horse, climbing to the top of a lighthouse, meeting princesses, meeting unicorns...and the list goes on. Her zest for life was contagious and the memories made with her will be treasured for an eternity.
In addition to her parents Everett and Miranda Blackman, Lilian is survived by her best friend and twin sister, Everly Blackman. Lilian adored her cousins Beau and Lincoln Giles and their parents, Uncle Isaiah and Aunt Whitney Giles. Lilian’s family extends also with Uncle Neil Blackman and a multitude of second cousins in the most amazing large family you have ever seen. Lilian’s Grandparents were loyal providers of chocolate, toys, gummies, snacks, and anything she asked for. Her Grandparents are Danny and Rose “Maw Maw” Page and Mitch and Tammy “Gran Gran” Blackman. Lilian is also survived by two sets of Great-Grandparents, Charles and Mirjean Blackman and John and Pearl Lewis.
Those that know us, know very well how strong our family ties are and how blessed we are for such. Family to us, is everything.
