Kenneth Rudolph Langley was born November 13, 1929 in Wayne County, NC. He was the 7th child of Willie Bryant Langley, Sr. and Nora Bunn Langley. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Hester Langley Waters, and brothers, Bernice Langley, Willie B. Langley, Jr, Robert Langley, and Madrid Owen Langley.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 3rd at 2:30 P.M. at Horne Memorial United Methodist Church in Clayton. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park in Wayne County.
He is survived by wife Jean Sutton Langley, sons Kenneth R. Langley, Jr (Millie) and Phillip A. Langley, (Carolyn), Grandchildren Tina L. Pauluzzi (Patrick), Willie K. Langley (Suzanne), Austin Langley and Jennie Langley; sisters Doris Daughtry and Jean Eatmon, Great Grandchildren Matthew Pauluzzi and Natalie Pauluzzi and many nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Rosewood High School in 1947, attended NC State College, graduating in 1951. In June of 1950 he married his beloved Jean Sutton, his high school sweetheart, and later earned his Masters from NC State. After several years as farm manager in Wake, Durham and Iredell Counties, he then realized his dream of teaching high school vocational agriculture in Johnston and Harnett Counties until his retirement in 1990. He was active in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and served as Scout Master for many years. After his retirement he served as Soil & Water District Supervisor in Johnston County, and was instrumental in bringing the Envirothon Program to North Carolina. He considered this to be one of his proudest accomplishments, as this program has grown into the premier High School Environmental Educational Program in this state.
Kenneth loved animals and was a shepherd; he enjoyed his sheep and maintained a flock of sheep and herd of cattle on his farm for many years. After retirement, he and Jean traveled extensively.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 2nd from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M. at McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton.
