A service to celebrate Kay’s life will be held at 3:00pm Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Baptist Center Church where Kay was an active member, with Pastor Ray Carr officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30pm until 3:00pm at the church prior to the service.
Kay was born in Harnett County, NC on July 23, 1961 to the late Earl “Red” Standley and the late Willa Chesshir Standley. The family relocated to Johnston County soon afterwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Cherri Stone and brother, Randy Standley.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years Robin Johnson; sons and daughters-in-law, Chad and Carrie Johnson and Brad and Michelle Johnson; grandchildren, Caroline Johnson, Chandler Coughlin and Chase Coughlin; sister Ginny Huddleston and husband Harry; brother Joe Standley and wife Kim; and Uncle and Aunt Larry and Mollie Chesshir of Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Kay was the office administrator at Johnston County Industries and loved working there with her coworkers and the clients.
Kay attended Appalachian State University for 3 years and graduated Salutatorian with a business degree from Johnston Community College. She was the owner of Robin’s Nest Before and After School Care for over a decade. Her dedication to the children brought her great joy. Kay enjoyed and was very talented at crafts and she loved using these talents to bring joy to others. She adored being a caregiver and deeply loved her husband and sons. Spending time with her grandchildren held a special place in Kay’s heart. Kay was a follower of Christ and was dedicated to showing God’s love to all. She accepted Christ on a Christmas Eve and attended Baptist Center Church for 60 years. Her family will always remember how big her heart was.
