Kathy Angela Poole Austin, 59, passed away suddenly, Friday, July 29, 2016. A native of Johnston County, Kathy was born February 17, 1957 to Maverene McCabe Poole and the late Jimmy Foxx Poole. She had a love for teaching and was fortunate to have a wonderful career teaching children. She was a graduate of East Carolina University. She is survived by her husband, Douglas Austin, of Clayton; mother, Maverene Poole, of Clayton; sisters, Patsy Poole Hickerson, of Smithfield and Pamela Poole Woods, of Zebulon; niece, Shannan Northrup; nephews, Michael W. Cox, of Charlotte and Adrian B. Woods, of Selma; great nephews, Cameron and Caleb Cobb; and nieces, Kyla, Lexi, and Tori Cobb. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, August 1, 2016, at 2pm in the McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel, 12830 US 70 Business Highway West, Clayton, NC 27520. Entombment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5-8pm at McLaurin Funeral Home. Arrangements by McLaurin Funeral Home.
