Juanita was born in Fairfield, Alabama on Sep 21, 1943 to the late Robert and Willie Basinger. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Larry, brothers Gilbert and Steve, sisters Lorece and Rachael, and son Phil.
She is survived by her brother David, two sons Ron (Molly), Mark, stepdaughters Barbara Wells, Tammi, daughters-in-law Barbara, Sheryl, along with six grandchildren, Brandon, Christian, Michael, Faith, Abigail, Olivia, and one great grandchild, Elisa.
Juanita was an academically gifted youth, skipping two grades in her early school years. She excelled in penmanship and earned many compliments for her beautiful handwriting style. She spent most of her professional career excelling in administrative work at Austin Foods and KPMG where she gained many lifetime friends. Juanita’s faith in God has been a cornerstone of her life. She was raised in the church where she often played piano and sang in the choir, while keeping a watchful eye on her children in the congregation who may or may not have been as well-behaved as she would have liked. As Juanita advanced in years she enjoyed visits with her family, and developed a somewhat intense passion for crochet. On any given day it was not unusual to find her buried under a literal mound of yarn, happily crocheting away. Many family members were gifted her hand-crocheted items they will cherish for many years. Juanita will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation services will be held at McLaurin Funeral Home on Friday, September 22 at 10am, followed by a graveside service at 11am
