John Joseph Scott

A memorial mass will be held 11:00 am Sunday, September 8, 2024 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Clayton. The family will gather at their residences following the service.

He was born in Syracuse, New York, on July 26, 1930 to the late David Scott and the late Mary Scherz Scott. He was one of five children. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest son, John C. Scott and his youngest son, Donald E. Scott.

Mr. Scott spent 21 years in military service, retiring as a proud Master Sergeant for the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force he worked primarily in Electronics, Avionics and Communications fields. He had a variety of domestic and foreign assignments. Most noteworthy of these being Easter Island and Kwajalein Islands.

He enjoyed working with tools, flea market searches and yard sales. Mr. Scott was also quite a practical joker.

He is survived by his wife, Joan F. O’Reilly Scott; son, Robert J. Scott; daughter, Joann F. Pattern; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
