Born on October 23, 1936, he was the son of the late John Hall Hunt and Alice Holt Hunt. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara Coats Hunt.
JL retired from the United Parcel Service after 28 years of service. After retirement, he ran his own lawn care service for several years. JL enjoyed cars, playing a good game of golf, and his morning gatherings at Bojangles with his friends telling stories and reminiscing. JL was a Past Master of the Masons, Charles B. Newcomb #740.
JL is survived by his son Michael Anthony Hunt and wife Karen; step-sons Marty Rudolph Murray and wife Juanita; Stephen Coats Murray and wife Marjorie; grandchildren Logan Hunt and wife Britney; Connor Hunt; Daniel Murray and wife Carmen, Stacy Radford and husband Dylan; Connor Murray; Melissa de la Cerde and husband Eric; great grandchildren Isla, Linden, Ava, and Logan; loving sister Brenda Benton; special friend and brother-in-law Larry Coats and wife Dolores; very special niece Ame Coats and special nephew Charles “Chuck” Penny.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am Monday, December 11, 2023 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with Pastor David Sutphin officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Columbarium at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the funeral home, prior to the service.
