A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home, 12830 US 70 Business Highway West, Clayton, North Carolina with Father Peter Grace officiating.
A wake service will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at the funeral home and from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM prior to the service on Wednesday.
Joanne was born November 14, 1959, in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in Queens. She was the daughter of the late Theresa DeClara and the late Frank DeClara. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Laura Cummings.
Joanne was most proud to be known as a “Domestic Engineer”, but had also worked as a personal banker, and medical biller. She most enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Michael Slavik; children, Christopher Slavik and Jennifer Miele; grandchildren, Maximus Miele, Melody Miele, and Alex Slavik; sisters, Linda DeClara Bundy, Donna Warren, and Theresa Mendez; and brothers, Joseph and Leo Cummings; and known as Aunt JoJo by numerous nieces and nephews.
