Jimmy was the owner of Master Builders and Realty and J R’s Well Drilling Company. He attended Oak Ridge Military Institute, graduated from Corinth Holders High School and UNC-Chapel Hill. He served in the US Navy as a pilot for 26 years and retired as Captain. Jimmy lived a happy, full, and rewarding life. He was a founding member of Sharon Baptist Church where he served many years as a Sunday school teacher and a deacon. Throughout the years, he was a very active member of his community. He served on The Johnston County School Board for 9 years, The Johnston County Airport Authority for 9 years, The NC Contractors Board under Governor Hunt, The Johnston County ABC Board for 10 years, as president of General Contractors, as president of The Real Estate of Johnston Co, as a member of the Masonic Lodge, as a member of the American Legion, and was currently an active member of the Poor Boys Fishing Club. He had a love for fishing and hunting and telling a good joke. He was unconditionally devoted to his son, daughter, and grandson, “Addaboy”.
Surviving are his daughter, Alecia Flowers Zucker and grandson, Addison Rogers Zucker, and many other beloved family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Gladys Whitley Flowers; son, Jimmy R. “Roge” Flowers, Jr.; brothers, Billy Flowers and David “Dicky” Flowers and a sister, Peggy Flowers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 11:00am in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home with entombment following at Pinecrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends immediately following the committal service with reception following.
