Shelton H. Johnson was ushered into heaven, his eternal home, on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the age of 79. Shelton was born in Johnston County on December 31, 1941 to the late Henry H. and Mable Lee Johnson.
Anyone who knows Shelton is aware that he led an amazing but simple life that honored God, family, friends, and colleagues. Shelton was taught to work hard from a young age and it goes without saying that he focused on the things that truly mattered in life. He was a man of God and cared for others more than himself, and showed this to his family and friends.
There was not a common subject that Shelton didn’t know quite a bit about, even if they were outside of his career. He was a licensed electrician, a skilled carpenter, enjoyed fishing and yardwork, and could build a car or truck from just parts laying around if you’d let him. He spent 49 years with the same company, and most of those years in management.
Shelton is survived by his wife, Sharon F. Johnson; daughters, Shelley Darden and her husband, Greg, Denise Schuck and her husband, John; sons, Adam Johnson and his wife, Dahl; Hunter Johnson and his wife, Melissa; grandchildren, Haley, Riley, Tripp, Lillya, Luke and Ivy; his sister, Sandra Brown and her husband, Dan. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Carl Johnson and Thomas Johnson; sisters, Marie Pryse, Mary Jane Johnson and Laura Lee Hobbs.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 1:30 pm at Bethesda Baptist Church (4967 US Hwy 70 Bus. W. Clayton, NC) with the family receiving friends from 12:00 until 1:30 prior to the service. A private committal service will be held at Knollwood Memorial Park.
