Mr. Grover George Rowe

Grover Rowe, age 69 of Clayton, NC went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at his home with his family surrounding him. He was a retired coal miner, heavy equipment operator, and a disabled Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Pikeville, KY and attended Wilson’s Mills Advent Church in Wilson Mills, NC. Grover enjoyed doing woodworking, playing with his grandchildren and he was a huge fan of the University of KY basketball team. Grover was born in Pikeville, KY on April 9, 1948, he was the son of the late Wilson Rowe and Gaynell Rowe Ford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry, Jimmy, and Bobby Rowe; and sisters, Louise Mitchell and Eugene Highbough of Louisville, KY. Grover is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Edith Jewell Rowe; daughters, Tammy (Chad) Hardin, of Zebulon, NC and Mistie (John) Pulleyn, of Clayton, NC; 5 grandchildren, Tristan Hardin, Aspen Hardin, Grace Pulleyn, Jackson Pulleyn, and Olivia Pulleyn; sisters, Doris Ann Nunn, of Louisville, KY and Sue Rowe, of Harrison, MI; and brothers, Danny Rowe, of Louisville, KY and Ollie Rowe, of Meally, KY. A special thank you to his brothers-in-law (Larry and Herbert Thacker) for always being there for him and calling to check on him nearly every day. Services will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 3pm, in the McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel, 12830 US 70 Business Hwy. W. Clayton, NC 27520. Entombment with military honors will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday at McLaurin Funeral Home. Active pallbearers are Chad Hardin, John Pulleyn, Charlie Keeton, Herbert Thacker, Walter Watson and Ollie Rowe. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Thacker, and Jackson Rowe Pulleyn.
