He was born in Harrisburg, Arkansas on April 9, 1942 to the late William “Bob” Blankenship and Madge Gardner Blankenship. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne (Joyce) Blankenship, and sister, Shirley Love.
Gene retired from Heinz - Quaker Oats - General Food factory in Kankakee, IL. He enjoyed cars, dogs and spending time with his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Imogene Rodgers Blankenship; three children, Larry Blankenship, Dan (Karen) Blankenship and Paula (Tom) Hildebrand; 5 grandchildren, Ryan (Lauren) Blankenship, Nicholas (Katelyn) Blankenship, Zachary (Alyssa) Hildebrand, Jacob (Mariah) Hildebrand and Morgan (Colton) Estey; 8 great-grandchildren; and one sister and one brother, Sherry Pharr and John (Lori) Blankenship.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Celebration of life will be conducted privately.
