CLAYTON – Elmer Fay Williams, age 93, peacefully passed away at her residence, one week shy of her 94th birthday.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 Thursday, November 11, 2021 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton with Pastor Elton Bryan officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
She was born on November 14, 1927 in Harnett County to the late Mahlon Williams and the late Alice Collins Williams Sims. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lucy Bohnsack; a brother, Robert Williams; son-in-law, Reverend Thomas Haynie; and step-father, J.J. Sims.
When she was eight years old, her family moved to Varina where she graduated from Fuquay Springs High School in 1946 and Hoyle’s Business College in Raleigh in 1947. Mrs. Dease first worked at NCSU in the Department of Horticulture. In 1951, she accepted a job at Fort Bragg Army Hospital where she held many and various positions over the years as a medical secretary and Administrative Assistant until her retirement in 1984. While living in Fayetteville, she was involved in the local community watch program and other activities. She accepted the Lord as her Savior in life at the Full Gospel Church in Fuquay while Oral Roberts was the pastor. Her life was blessed serving in various areas of the churches she attended. She was a member of Hope Mills Pentecostal Holiness Church before moving to Clayton in 2011 to be nearer to family. She presently attended WC Church of God.
She is survived by her daughter, Dana Haynie Hoyle; grandchildren, Richard Wilder (Brandy), Carrie Wilder Charleston; great grandchildren, Haylie Johnson, Chase and Sadie Wilder, Chyler and Taylen Charleston; and brother Luther Williams (Sue).
