A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Clayton with Pastor Chrissy Williamson officiating.
She was born in Johnston County on September 16, 1927 to the late J. Charlie Parrish and the late Myrtle Parrish. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Brant (Buck) Johnson.
After graduating as valedictorian at Cleveland School, she earned an associate degree at Kings College in Raleigh. She retired from the Social Security Administration after nearly 30 years. She was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Clayton, and her service included singing in the choir and visiting shut-ins. She enjoyed traveling across the country with her cousin, Christine, and cooking all day for family gatherings. She always made her friends and family feel special by remembering them and celebrating their birthdays with cards and phone calls.
She leaves three children; David (Charlene) Johnson, Trish (Pat) Boone, and Johnny (Jill) Johnson; 5 grandchildren, Jessica (Thomas) Moore, Melissa Essick, Matthew Johnson, Eric Johnson, MacKenzie (Joe) Ulerseder; four great-grandchildren, Adeline and Noah Moore, and Campbell and Brant Essick; one brother, Charlie Parrish; and two nephews and several cousins.
