David was born in Alliance, Ohio to James and Charlotte Currie on October 7, 1927. He grew up in Linesville, PA where he graduated from High School and then moved to Durham, NC where he met the love of his life. He married Marie Harris Currie on August 17, 1951.
He served in the US Army until receiving his Honorable Discharge in April 1948. He spent over twenty years in the Fertilizer industry and proud of the time he spent in Australia helping to open the first liquid fertilizer manufacturer. Following he worked as a Plant Manager with Mogul Corp where he retired in 1990.
For the last 21 years, David enjoyed living in Clayton where he and his wife built their home overlooking the 4th green of the Neuse Golf Course. He loved playing golf, traveling, and enjoying his family. Watching the Redskins play football and Duke play basketball on TV made for exciting times with his interaction!
David is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marie; children David Todd Currie, Jr and wife Saundra (Burke, VA) and Kim Alan Currie and wife, JoAnn (Clayton, NC); brother Paul Currie and wife, Peggy (Orange Park, FL); grandchildren, Bradley Alan Currie, Ashlee Marie Currie, Douglas Eugene Currie, David Todd Currie III; great-grandchild Hudson Todd Currie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Legion Post 71 http://www.amlegionncpost71.org/ and Community Hospice https://www.curohealthservices.com/donate.
A visitation will be held at McLaurin Funeral Home on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11am with memorial service to follow at 12pm. A reception and celebration of life will follow at Kim and JoAnn’s home located at 100 Neuse Ridge Drive, Clayton.
