Carolyn Carpenter Lloyd

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, March 23, 2023 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home in Clayton, North Carolina with Pastor Jason Shuler officiating. A private inurnment will be held at Maplewood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM March 23, 2023 at the funeral home, prior to the service.

Carolyn was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina on December 26, 1941 to the late Oscar Lee Carpenter and the late Martha Elizabeth Wilson Carpenter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Buren Lloyd.

She was a retired employee of the North Carolina State Personnel Department and a member of the First Baptist Church of Clayton. Carolyn enjoyed gardening, travelling with the Clayton Senior Travel Club, mission trips with her church, playing cards with her friends and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Ann Lloyd Denning (Allen), Susan Lloyd Hill, Joni Gower (Marty). She has four grandchildren: Amanda Bell (Brian), Jennifer Lowry (Blake), Tad Denning, Marty Gower and she has five great-grandchildren: Peyton Bell, Lane Bell, Ryan Bell, Parker Lowry and Jake Lowry.
