Mrs. Betty Lou Whitman Benson, 75 of Forest, Virginia, went to be with her Lord, 19 June 2018 at home. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church of Goode, VA
Mrs. Benson was born August 17, 1942, in Faison, NC, to the late George Wilson Whitman and the late Milda Louise Coker Whitman Lambert. Her early years through High School were in Clayton, NC.
At an early age, Betty professed her faith in Jesus Christ. Her life visually demonstrated her Christian principles with devoted and unconditional love for her family and friends. The Lord stood with me, strengthened me and His grace was sufficient. Betty’s most urgent desire was that her family know and have a personal relationship with Christ her Savior. We believe that Betty is joyously celebrating with all those who have gone before, and that in Christ, we will be reunited again, praising our Father God for eternity.
Betty faced down Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Cancer with incredible adversity, dignity and determination since her diagnosis in early 2014. She lost her eyesight to diabetes in 2010. Never losing her passion for life, she continued to be a dedicated great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, and wife.
