Barbara worked as a bookkeeper for many years starting at Champion Products and retired from the Clayton News Star in early 2000.
Barbara and her late husband, Charles, were married for almost 63 years. They had two daughters, Lynn and Cindy. Barbara was devoted to her family. Often when you saw her she was flanked on either side by her daughters. She taught herself how to sew and mastered the skill so she could provide nice clothes for her girls that she could not otherwise afford. She spent many hours crocheting for extra money but mostly loved to shower her family and friends with her beautiful afghans. Her love of family will live on through her craft as in her later years she made many more afghans for future great grandchildren. Barbara spent many Sundays alongside her husband preparing lunch for her family, a tradition that kept her family united and bonded.
Barbara was a frequent guest of the Clayton Library because she loved to read and devoured as many as two books a week. Barbara was also a very faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church since 1968. She devoted many volunteer hours to the church as their bookkeeper for years. Her legacy of faith and love of the Lord lives on in her daughters and their family. Her daughters will always be grateful to Fellowship Baptist Church and their mom for her diligence in bringing them to their own relationship with Christ.
She is survived by daughters, Lynn Cieri and husband Kit, Cindy Morgan and husband Jack; grandchildren, Briana and Mark Powell, Kaylee and Stephen Nalls and Harrison Cieri, great granddaughter Piper Powell; and sisters Ida Kessinger of Pulaski, VA and Lena Stone of Purcellville, VA.
She was proceeded in death by husband Charles; her parents French and Cherry Deweese; grandaughter Shanna Bullock; brothers Daniel Deweese, Marvin Deweese, Everett Deweese and Charlie Deweese; sisters Mary Colgin, Margaret Henson and Cora Crockett.
