Ann Eakes Amos, 84, passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016. A native of Granville County, Ann was born November 22, 1931 to the late Millard and Eva Land Eakes. She loved the beach, reading, and cooking for her family. She had a zest for life and some family said she had “Wheels on her butt” because nothing could keep her still. Ann worked for 30 years with Nationwide Insurance before retiring. She left a lot of friends behind at Nationwide and was always glad to see them when she could. She was a very strong woman, losing two daughters much two early, but continuing to be strong and take care of her family. Ann also loved dogs and there are many that will miss her. She is survived by her husband, Billie B. Amos; sons, Kevin Barbour and fiancé, Lynn, and Thomas Medlin; daughters, Jewel Beatty and Jennifer Medlin; grandchildren, Travis Medlin and wife, Misty, Amy Weis, Morgan Durham and husband, Paul, Jordan Barbour, Amber Beatty, and Will Medlin; great grandchildren, Delaney Durham, Kolton Baldwin, Luke Durham, Tabitha Durham, Logan Weis, Ashton Weis, Garrett Weis, Ryder Medlin, and Hope Medlin; sisters, Elaine Coats and Joanne Jones; brothers, R. L. Eakes and Jerry Eakes; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by two daughters, Vicky Barbour Medlin and Bonnie Barbour Blinson; sister, Lucille Boone; and brothers Earl, Lindsey, and George Eakes. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, August 29, 2016 in the McLaurin Funeral Home Chapel at 2pm. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.
