August 20, 1968 - August 20, 2023
Sacramento, CA
With a full heart and soul of an angel, Lisa passed away suddenly on August 20, 2023, her 55th birthday. Born in Reno, NV on August 20, 1968 to Bruce and Pamela Britton, Lisa spent her early years in Reno before moving to Carmichael, CA in the summer of 1977 and making Sacramento County her primary residence for the remainder of her life. Lisa attended San Juan Unified School District’s “Independent Living Skills Program” under the guidance of Chris Tierney and Gary Hack and graduated from Del Campo High School with the Class of 1990. For the past 28 years, Lisa was a dedicated and treasured member of the Emigh Ace Hardware staff.
Lisa spent her formative years pursuing hobbies and interests that became the foundation for how she lived her life. Those hobbies and interests included playing cards (solitaire and blackjack) and the piano, bowling, “Guys & Dolls” square dancing, “Special” softball, snow and water skiing, participating in Sacramento Area Special Olympics, creating puzzles, taking art classes at the Short Center North, and watching her favorite TV shows, Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right. Coincidentally, Lisa passed away just a few days prior to her all-time favorite, Bob Barker. While her lifelong challenges with asthma restricted her from being around all of them, Lisa was a sincere lover of animals and treasured them dearly, specifically her dogs and best friends: Baxter, Abigail, Tucker and Elsie. One of her favorite pastimes was walking them around her neighborhood and saying hello to all of her neighbors. Lisa also loved to travel and spent a lot of time in Carmel, CA visiting family, the pet “guests” at the Cypress Inn, and the sea lions. She also loved visiting Kauai, HI to see the turtles and Montecito-Sequoia Lodge in Giant Sequoia Nat’l Monument where she flourished in their Arts & Crafts activities.
While her hobbies and interests sustained her in life, it was her relationships with family, close friends and the Church that truly defined her. She was a member of Cypress Avenue Baptist Church for many years and, more recently, Arcade Church. Both communities fully embraced her energetic spirit and devoted faith. Rarely would you see Lisa without her Bible, jotting down notes and reading various short passages when she had five minutes to spare. Everyone who knew Lisa cherished her regular phone calls and reliably uplifting and energetic voicemails. “Who is this stranger?” was a common question on every call, followed by her distinct and infectious laugh. Despite a traumatic entrance into this world which left her with cognitive disabilities, Lisa’s positive “can do” attitude inspired many. She was not handicapped. She was extraordinarily handiCAPABLE. Lisa embodied the truest spirit of love, honesty, and kindness. It is with the heaviest heart we say goodbye to our favorite personality —she unequivocally represented the best humanity has to offer.
Lisa was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents and special grandmother Alice Deaser, her step-father, Wayne Erickson, and her beloved pups - Baxter, Abigail, and Tucker. She is survived by her mother, Pamela Erickson of Carmichael; father, Bruce Britton; sister, Lori Pfeiffer (James); brother, Jack Britton (Natalie); step-mother, Tina Britton; niece and nephew, Dana and Andrew Pfeiffer - all of Carmel/Carmel Valley; many extended family members and special friends, including Nancy, Sarah, Aaron, Chiara, and Allegra Schlegel; and, last but not least, her beloved Golden Doodle, Elsie.
The Britton-Erickson-Pfeiffer family would like to thank Arcade Church and the Lawrence family and staff of Emigh Hardware for years of continuous support, kindness, patience, and embrace. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to honor Lisa with contributions in her name to the Sacramento SPCA - www.sspca.org - or the DDSO Short Centers, specifically Short Center North – www.ddso.org. Please join us for a Celebration of Life in her honor on Saturday, October 21st at noon at Arcade Church in Sacramento and wear any shade of purple. On Lisa’s behalf, HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
