Joseph (Joey) Neal Maddox Jr, age 21, of Citrus Heights, CA was granted his angel wings on February 5th, 2019. Joseph was born September 12th, 1997 in Santa Clara, CA to parents Joseph Maddox and Patricia Honstein.
Joey’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His smile lit up a room, his humor filled many with laughter, and his kind and caring heart brought much joy to family and friends. There was not a place that Joey would go that he wouldn’t find a friend or someone he knew. Although taken so unexpectedly, he gave us all such courage and hope and reminds us of the preciousness of life. Joey loved to spend time with family and friends. He could spend hours playing Xbox with his online crew, exploring with his dad, or cuddling close to those he loved so much to watch a movie. Joey enjoyed football and played the sport much of his young life for the local Sunrise district Flag Football league, Jr. Mavericks, and Mesa Verde High School. During his senior year, Joey transferred from Mesa Verde High School to San Juan High school where he graduated from in 2015.
Joseph is survived by his loving parents, Patricia and her husband Brant Honstein of Citrus Heights, CA & Joseph Maddox of Fair Oaks, CA; Cousin/Big Brother Nicholas and his wife Savannah Bricco of Citrus Heights, CA; Maternal grandmothers Judith and her husband Pacifico Icasiano of Citrus Heights, CA & Marcia Bricco of Peru, IN; Paternal grandmother Robbie Gregory of Pollock Pines, CA; many aunts and uncles as well as nieces and cousins; and the love of his life Eva Sellers of Citrus Heights, CA. He was preceded in death by his sister Jessie Maddox, Brother Timothy Bricco, Maternal grandfather Thomas Bricco, Paternal Grandfather Roger Maddox, and Aunt Angela Bricco.
