

James Monroe Duke went home to be with the Lord July 14, 2012. Jim was born on June 9, 1924 in Cleveland, Oklahoma to William and Willie Duke. He was a 20 year retired veteran in the US Army and served with the Military Police and Criminal Investigation Departments. He received Military Commendation Medals for performance achievement. He was an active elder in the Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church, a real estate investor, earned a MBA from Scarsdale Univ., London, England and worked as an Operations Manager for the State of California. He is survived by his loving wife, Myra, two adopted grandchildren, Stephanie and Amanda Simons, two godchildren, Gail Manuel and Robin Bacon, two adopted godchildren, Gwen and Debra Young, two sisters, Charlye M. Jones and Beatrice Alexander in Boley, OK, one brother William Jr. and Charlottie in Tulsa, OK, in-laws, David J. Parreott Jr. and Olla, Dorian Parreott and Yvonne, and Rovena Sanders all of New Jersey, Thais Chavira in San Diego, CA, James Robinson in Philadelphia, PA, and Dorothy Duke in Citrus Heights, CA, Alice Duke in Oklahoma City, OK, extended family and many friends. He was particularly interested in helping people and often reached out to encourage others. Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service, Friday, August 3, 2012 at 11 AM at the Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church, 11427 Fair Oaks Blvd., Fair Oaks, CA. Private burial Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Covina Hills, CA. Remembrances may be made to the Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church Missions Fund.
