Harry C. Helm, loving and devoted friend and husband of Phyllis Helm passed away peacefully at home on March 11, 2013, with family by his side. He died of natural causes while battling Parkinson’s disease. Harry was born on June 16, 1930 to Charlie and Nellie Helm in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota.
After an earlier friendship, Harry and Phyllis re-met in 1961 and were married in April of 1962. They have been each others’ true companion for nearly 51 wonderful years as they melded two families into one great family. Harry worked for 30 years at McClellan AFB as an Instrument Repair Technician and retired in 1985. He was a doer and could fix anything. He loved to travel, ride his motorcycle and go camping. He often combined these and with Phyllis visited sites far and wide. After retirement he and Phyllis moved to Brookings, Oregon and lived on a hill near the ocean. He loved The Calvary Assembly of God Church in Brookings and his church family. He was a voracious reader of all types of literature. Besides riding his motorcycle and taking care of his beautiful ocean home, he enjoyed volunteering to drive the sick and elderly to medical appointments, sometimes 150 miles or more because it made him feel good.
