It's been  9 years big brother and you are very much missed. You were the cog in the wheel of our family and that family will never roll again. Until we meet again know you girls are doing very well and you would be so proud of them. See you on the flip side with Mom and Dad.

I had been Craig's supervisor on and off for the past year and a half and I can openly say that Craig was an absolute ideal employee!  He was hardworking, dependable, and had a great sense of humor.  A couple of months ago, while I was working at my desk, I noticed a little bug (probably about an inch long) crawling on the drawer near my head.  I immediatley rolled my chair back, started flapping my hands and shrieking, "Eww, Eww, Ewwww, OMG OMG OMG!"  Craig was nearest to me at that time and came rushing over.  I pointed to the bug while still shrieking hysterically.  Craig grabbed a notebook off my desk, swatted the bug, and then wiped off the remains with a Lysol wipe, all the while shaking his head and saying "it's only a little bug".  Since then, I called Craig my Hero!  I told everyone that Craig saved my life because a "bug as big my head" was about to attack me and Craig jumped in and resuced me by killing it.  Craig would constantly remind me that I was exaggerating a tad bit about the size of the bug, but in my eyes, he still saved my life!  My hero!!!  Craig will be greatly missed.

Being the daddy of my best friend, he was so funny to grow up with. I loved his jokes and silly sayings. I am happy to be "one of his favorites" and I pray peace over all his girls during this time. :) <3

Craig was definitely a go-with-the-flow kind of guy. I don't think I ever saw him have a bad day. His easy going manner always added a calmness to the office no matter how crazy things got. Always courteous and always willing to help out and of course his great sense of humor will certainly be missed by all.

Craig was one of my very dependable supervisors in the Tree & Landscape Section.  He was always eager to take on new assignments.  I recall one particularly bad wind storm in which he assumed the responsibility of organizing the field crews and handling the incommoding calls. 

I also remember his excitement to show off some of the gold he got on an Alaskan mining trip.  He was always upbeat and a pleasure to work with.  Even though I have been retired for ten years I can still picture him as he was and as someone that I respected very much.  He was much too young to be taken so soon.

Craig and I worked together at COCF for the last year and 1/2 and I will not forget his kindness or his gentleness,there was such a peace about him.  He never had anything negative to say.  He is missed by all who knew him!

I had the opportunity to know and work with Craig for several years when County Transportation provided the drainage maintenance crews for Water Resources (late 90's).  He was always someone who could be depended on to be professional, eager and absolutely upbeat.  He had a great way of being positive and was always willing to help teach a young engineer what it really took to keep the County's drainage system humming.  No less than one week ago I was actually recollecting on a particular field project I was working on with Craig, and of course chuckling to myself about it something funny he had said.  Craig will be missed but fondly remembered.

I worked with Craig about a year or more. I will never forget his big smile and sense of humor. He was a very hard worker and always helpful. Everytime I would greet him and ask how he was doing he would say " It's a great day to be alive" He will be missed greatly. My deepest condolences go out the entire Heuer family and friends.

Craig hired me in 2001 onlong with one other tree trimmer out of 250 people with the help of Mark Forster and Robert Roma. I don't know what Craig saw in me at the time but he wanted me to have a future at the county. The first interaction I had with Craig was over a leadworker indesection while I was on probation.  I could have been fired at the time, but Craig saw threw this problem and handled it with the upmost descrestion and professionalism of a county manager.  Saving my job and my career at the county. He stuck up for me many times after this instident at the county saving my job and later promoting me to supervisor.  I think that our department would not be what it is today if it wasn't for his time at the county. His time at the County Of Sacramento will always be remember by his employees and peers.  He will be missed.

Carol, I share your grief.  I know you loved your brothers dearly.

My condolences to the entire Heuer family. Craig was my Manager at the Sacramento County Department of Transportation and I can attribute a portion my success directly to Craig. I now know that Craig was mentoring me for years to become a Manager and one day, shortly before retiring, he candidly told me "you could do my job" . Craig was well respected, dedicated and known as a person who could get any job done.  He was a jokester. When asked how it was going he would say "like a duck on a June bug" or "better than a sharp stick in the eye". One time he put aluminum foil inside of his hard hat and told his supervisor "it was so the aliens can't read my mind". Craig was also very thankful for every day on earth. His family meant everything to him. He once told me he had promised to pay for his four daughter's college education's. When I asked him how he  could afford that, he said "looks like I will have to work forever". God bless Craig's soul. His memory lives on here at SacDOT.

I worked with Craig for a little over a year. I will never forget his sense of humor and willingness to go out of his way to help others in need. He was a hard worker and he always had a positive attitude. I am glad I had the opportunity to work with Craig. He was truly an amazing person and he will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences go out to his family and friends.

I only worked with Craig for a short time but he left an impression.  He was always smiling and was young at heart.  My thoughts are with his family and friends.

I had the pleasure of working with Craig in both Transportation and Water Quality.  Craig has always had my deepest respect.  His commentment to the people who worked for him was unsurpassed.

Please accept my sympathy.  I worked at COCF with your father for a very short time and found him to be a delight.
