Leon Bennett

Leon was born July 8, 1948 at Johnsonville, IL to Ferman Luther and Dorothy Dorene (Burgess) Bennett. He married Charolette Sue Caudle May 3, 1969 at Xenia, IL.

Leon was an Auto-Diesel Mechanic, maintenance man for Continental General Tire for over thirty years, and an US Army Infantry Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, laughing, and making people happy. He was a member of Community of Christ Church at Zenith, IL and Cisne American Legion.

Leon is survived by his wife Sue of Xenia, IL; daughter Ginger (Troy) Workman of Xenia, IL; two brothers Roger Bennett of Versailles, KY and Garry Bennett of Gibson City, IL. Also surviving are two grandchildren Jacob Bennett of DeSoto, IL and Kirsten Workman of Xenia, IL

Preceding Leon in death were his parents, two sisters-in-law Barbara and Orella Bennett and a nephew Keith.

Graveside services will be 10AM Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Harrell Cemetery in Zenith with full military rights at the graveside. Friends and family are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Following the graveside service a Celebration of Life service will be held at the home of Ginger Workman.

Memorials may be given to Brush Creek Community of Christ Church and will be accepted at Hosselton Funeral Home.
