Rich grew up in Happydale and had many wonderful memories there with his siblings and great childhood friend Sam Oliver; oh the stories. He was a graduate of Byesville High School. Rich had a work ethic second to none that began out of necessity at a very early age. He spent his working career in the injection molding business beginning as a teenager at Plastic Toys in Byesville with a great mentor O.J. Sharp. He later worked at Meridian Plastics in Byesville then in Circleville, OH as Maintenance Supervisor and finished his career at London Industries London, OH. After retirement, Rich drove a courtesy cart at the local hospital in Circleville. He was a great representative of the hospital and so enjoyed greeting people and tried to make the day a little better for everyone.
Rich was an avid reader and was a real history buff. He enjoyed gardening and could hardly wait for that first ripe tomato. He could fix anything. For years he enjoyed working on cars and woodworking and believed any day spent fishing or on the front porch swing was a great day. Rich was a long-time member of Bloom Baptist Church in Lithopolis, OH. He loved the Lord and reflected the love and grace of Christ to others. He has left a void that will be filled when we meet again. He will be missed by all who took the time to really know and love the wonderful man that he was.
The family will receive friends on Saturday November 12 from 1pm until 2pm at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, 231 E. Main St, Byesville, Ohio 43723. A memorial service will follow immediately after.
Local arrangements have been entrusted to Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home.
