On Sunday, May 21, 2023, Betty Jane (Wright) Young received her wings as her spirit was set free at the age of 94. She was born on April 18, 1929 in a small home on Union Street in Circleville to her parents, Hazel M. Davis and Martin E. Wright. On December 17, 1946 she married the love of her life, Eugene T. Young. This beautiful couple were by one another's side for 69 years until Gene's death in 2016.Together, they were blessed with 5 wonderful children whom they loved and adored tremendously.
Betty was well known for her fabulous baked pies and her very delicious potato salad. She attended numerous school, sports and outdoor events with her children, all while working at the former Pickaway Arms restaurant where she made many lifelong friends. Betty was also co-owner of Rethreads Consignment Shop with her very special niece, Rosalee Cullums. She was a life-long member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Betty was a social butterfly and just loved people. Pumpkin Show was definitely her favorite time of year. It would literally take hours for her to walk down the streets during Pumpkin Show, stopping along the way to talk to so many friends that she knew (and some that she didn't know) but that was Betty, she never knew a stranger. One of the most beloved things about her was that you never knew what might come out of her mouth. In today's world, we call that - having no filters. She was very entertaining to all of her friends and family, especially the great grands! Everyone whose life was touched by Betty was impacted deeply as she will be sorely missed.
Left to cherish the memories of this one of a kind mother, grandmother and great grandmother are: Linda Young and her children, Carrie (James) Bremer and Thomas Bremer; Larry (Debra) Young and their children, Audrey (Nelson) Karshner, Brandy (Dr. Andrew) Palmer; Randy (Polly) Young and their children, Marcie (Dustin) Ford, Hunter (Melinda) Young; Pamela (Michael) Arledge and their children, Jennifer (Nick) Woods, Heather (Jerrod) Alford, Jason (Toni) Woods, Heather (Brad) Foll, Shane Arledge; Douglas Young and his son Dylan; 26 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Logan Elm Healthcare for their compassion and loving care given during her years spent there. A special thank you to Connie Butterbaugh who showed Betty so much care and provided many hours of enjoyment scratching off those lottery tickets!
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 31, from 10am until 1pm at Defenbaugh Wise Schoedinger, 151 E. Main St, Circleville, Ohio 43113, where the funeral will immediately follow. Interment will occur at Amanda Township Cemetery, Amanda, Ohio.
