Wilton is preceded in death by his parents, George Leemon Corley and Freddie Inez Going Corley; sister, GeLee Hendrix and brother, Milton Corley. Preceded also, six years ago was the love of his life for 68 years, Mary Primeau Wheeler Corley. He is survived by his three children: son, Gary Leamon Corley of Bossier City, and two daughters, Deborah Corley McSpadden of Benton and Melanie Lee Clary, and husband, John W. Clary of Henderson, Texas.
Family was very important to Wilton (or "Gamp" which is what all the children and grands called him). He was so proud of his five grandchildren, Lori McSpadden Solis of Corpus Christi, TX, Kristin McSpadden Cardinale and husband, Blaine of Tatum, TX, Heather Lee Wilson and husband, Kevin Wilson of Carthage, TX, Alexander Michael Lee and wife, Victoria Lee of Haughton, LA, and Amanda Sisul and husband, Beau Sisul of Austin, TX. Wilton is also so very proud of his eight great-grandchildren, Lauren, Megan, Andrew Solis, Logan and Katherine Cardinale, Kylee Wilson, London, and Charlotte Lee.
Wilton's passion in life was his love of family and their happiness. We will miss his wisdom and guidance. He has touched so many lives by his Christian values and love for God. His loving memory will live with us forever. As Kevin Wilson recently stated, "We need more Gamps in this world".
Wilton served in the United States Air Force from 1949 to 1952, stationed in Adak, Alaska as a Radio Operator/Interceptor. He has also served in Bossier Parish in numerous capacities including being Mayor of Benton from 1968 to 1972, the Town Council, Clerks Office, Deputy Tax Assessor, founder and publisher of the Bossier Parish Legal News, and Executive Director at the Cypress Black Bayou Recreation Area. Church has always been a large part of his life and our family.
No one had a larger zest for life. He knew no bounds when it came to his age and limitations. Wilton was an avid woodcarver and won several Grand Champion ribbons for his creations. He was a great role model for his family. He will be sorely missed by all his family and friends.
Honoring Wilton as pallbearers will be Alex Lee, John Clary, Blaine Cardinale, Kevin Wilson, Logan Cardinale, and Lynn Lee with honorary pallbearer Hal McSpadden.
Services honoring Mr. Corley will be held Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held before services on Thursday, from 10:00 am to 11:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow services at Hill Crest Memorial Park in Haughton, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Reverend Tommy Patton.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bipin Turakhia (retired) for taking such good care of Wilton and Mary for years and to Dr. Kennedy Lim, MD, and his staff, for taking over that role when Dr. Turakhia retired. We couldn’t have asked for more caring and compassionate doctors and staff.
