Tonie Lynn Rodriguez, of Chula Vista, 51 years young, passed away suddenly on November 8, 2016 surrounded by her family and close friends. Tonie was born in San Diego on June 3, 1965. She was the oldest child born to Hector Morales Rodriguez and Sandra Jane Foley. She was a proud sister to younger brother, Hector James Rodriguez.
Tonie had a career working as an executive assistant at Scripps Hospital in San Diego. She was also in the process of obtaining her bachelors' degree in Business Administration. Tonie kept busy with life's many challenges, but was always available for her three daughters, Raylene Crowder, Corina Grier and Sydney Grier. Her passion however, was spending time with the grandchildren, Mikey (Boo), Malani (MayMay), Alaiha (LooLoo) and Zurianna (Bahama Mama).
Regardless of long days at work or pending school projects, she made time for her beloved grandkids, her niece, Haley Rodriguez and nephew Gabriel Rodriguez. Nothing pleased her more than going to their various sports or school activities and rooting them on. In addition, her life was blessed by her devoted partner, Brian Smith. Tonie made sure that those counting on her lively presence for support, in whatever situation, would not be disappointed. Her strong bond with family and friends defined Tonie's life. They could always count on her to cheer them up with her quick wit and quirky sense of humor. Among her endeavors was her volunteer work. She firmly believed in supporting organizations such as the San Diego Autism Society, Survivors of Suicide, Children's Literacy Foundation and also volunteered as a Crisis Interventionist with San Diego Police Department.
Tonie's life will be celebrated at Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, CA 91910 on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.
