Reynaldo, also known to many as Ray or Bro.Ray was born on January 15, 1945 in Baguio City, Philippines. He graduated from Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila, Philippines with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He was recognized as the salutatorian of his graduating class. He married Lolita Tallorin Lospe on December 2, 1967. They moved from Philippines to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1974. Ray worked and had a long time, progressive career as a Mechanical Engineer in various manufacturing industries such as Flyers, CN Rail in Winnipeg, Manitoba and later, Langley Corporation and Chemtronics in San Diego, California.
Bro. Ray was a faithful member and officer in the Iglesia Ni Cristo, Church of Christ. He was appointed Head Deacon in the locale of Winnipeg, Manitoba from 1976 to 1979. After moving his family to San Diego, California, Bro. Ray served as Head Deacon in the locale of National City, California for 22 years. In 2002, Bro. Ray was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and underwent thyroidectomy and radiation treatments. From that time, his life was extended another 11 years until the cancer reappeared. Bro. Ray retired at the age of 62 due to his health and decided to travel and spend time with his family. His hobbies and favorite past time was fishing, gardening, bargain shopping, watching movies, and spending as much time with his family especially his grandkids.
Bro. Ray is survived by his wife, Sis. Lolita Maglaya, his children, Ron Maglaya married to Karen Maglaya, and Leizl Jones married to Tracy Jones. His grandchildren are Jamison Ray Maglaya, Kaleb Cole and Caden Noah Jones. His late father was Valentin San Pedro Maglaya and mother is Soledad Moreno Maglaya. He is also survived by siblings Norma Flordeliza, Bro. Romy Maglaya, Julie Bartolome, and Susan Manalac.
Bro. Ray was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle and grandfather to his family. To many others who knew him, he was dedicated and committed in the performance of his offices in the church and cared for brethren tirelessly tending to the spiritual needs of the congregation.
Funeral arrangements will be held at 11am on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Funeraria Del Angel Humphrey on 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, California. His final resting place will be at Glen Abbey Memorial Park.
