Mary Grace Corona was known as many things to many people. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Mary will be remembered as a very strong will person.
Mary was born on September 9, 1933 in Saginow, MI. She was the daughter of Joseph and Ana Sharamitaro. Mary grew up in Saginow, MI and San Diego, CA. Mary was raised with 5 Sibling. Al, Sam, Joe, Larry and Pearl. Mary was involved in all sorts of activities with her siblings. She and her siblings experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many memorable life experiences over the years.
As a young girl, Mary had a number of interests. Like most children, she enjoyed the company of friends. She was curious about the world around her and was often eager to explore it. As a typical child she tried everything in her power to get out of chores and be with friends.
A typical teenager, Mary had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. She enjoyed singing and dancing, and won an award at a local dancing competition. Always considered a “good” friend to those she knew, Mary enjoyed a broad group of acquaintances and several very close friends during her lifetime.
On June, 14th, 1953 Mary exchanged wedding vows with Frank A Corona at Our Lady of Rosary Catholic Church in Little Italy of San Diego, CA. Mary was committed to making her new family happy. Mary worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Mary was blessed with three sons, Joe, Frank, and Sal. Another blessing for Mary was the gift of one grandson, Alex, and one great grandson, Joseph Arturo.
Mary enjoyed what she did for a living. She did her best to have a successful career running a Day Care Center for 20 years. Mary enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. She was content to enjoy her favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share her interests with others.
Mary found pleasure in sports. Mary was something of a sports fan and enjoyed following her favorite events whenever she had the chance to do so. She loved watching Baseball.
Mary was involved in her community church organization as a member of the Italian Catholic Federation. She was also a member of the local Red Hatters social group. Mary was a woman who took pride in upholding her beliefs. Mary’s faith was important to her.
Mary enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for her to relax, visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included Disneyland, going on cruises, and Las Vegas.
Mary was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. One of her favorites was her dog Lou. They were best friends for 10 years. She also loved her other two dogs Toby and Houdini.
When Mary’s retirement finally arrived she was well prepared. Even in retirement, Mary continued to stay in touch with her old friends while making new acquaintances. She was loved by her neighbors and the staff at the local CVS drugstore - her favorite social gathering place. It was her social happy hour of her late years.
Mary passed away on October 17, 2015 at Scripps Mercy Hospital. She is survived by her children Joe, Frank, and Sal Corona. Services were held at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery San Diego, CA. Mary was laid to rest along side her husband, Frank A Corona, at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery San Diego, CA.
Simply stated, Mary was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Mary leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life she touched will always remember Mary Grace Corona.
