Our beloved Barbara passed on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She is survived by her husband of fifty eight years, Richard of Canebrake, California, her son Gregory of Las Vegas, her daughter, Deni of Albuquerque and Tucson, and her daughter, Jan of Ellensburg, Washington and five grandchildren. She is sister to Lavonne Olson and aunt to Bob Olson and Linda Harrison. She was the daughter of Ernest and Myrtle Patton. An especially bright and creative woman, she was a very successful elementary school teacher for thirty years in Jamul, a real estate broker in San Diego, and a savvy stock market analyst and investor. Together they enjoyed Baja California, fishing, camping, and hiking with family and rehabbing several houses over the years. Together they also enjoyed the community of camping and Canebrake friends, along with raising beautiful dogs, tending sizable coveys of quail, and producing bountiful harvests from her year-round home garden and orchard.
Services celebrating her life are pending.
Donations to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers are appreciated.
