Juanita Alice Casey passed away peacefully in her sleep at Jacob Healthcare Facility in San Diego, CA on December 20th, 2011.
Juanita was born December 12th 1923 to Joseph and Aurare Spanke in Hanford, California where she grew up with eight brothers and sisters. She married James A. Casey on January 1, 1946, her husband of 65 years. They started their family with two sons, Stephen and David. The young family relocated to Bakersfield California to continue her employment with the California Department of Motor Vehicles. The family again relocated again to their final home of 47 years in Chula Vista California. She retired from the DMV as an Assistant Manager in 1976.
Juanita is survived by her son and his wife, David & Diane Casey of El Cajon, CA, and daughter-in-law, Maureen Casey of Marietta, GA. She is also survived by several other family members which include three grandchildren, Jennifer Casey of El Cajon, CA, Beth Sabala and her husband Nicholas of Dallas, TX, and Sean Casey and his wife, Denise of Chino, California; two great grandchildren, Caelan and Kaecee Sabala; two sisters, Loretta Hickey and Joyce Maurer, one brother, Ted Spanke, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James in May of 2010, her eldest son, Stephen Casey in February 2011, her sisters Cecelia, Isabel, Aileen, Janice and her brother Lawrence.
After retiring, she devoted much of her time and energy caring for family members especially her husband James until he passed. Juanita will be remembered as a generous and giving person who would place the needs of others beyond her own needs and never expected anything in return.
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:6-8

Juanita will be laid to rest at the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego with her husband, James.
