Joseph E. Mendez Sr.

Joseph Edward Mendez Sr., a native San Diegan passed away on Wednesday, June 24th at the age of 75 years old. He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years Mary Ann Mendez, 1-son Joseph Mendez Jr., 5-daughters Teresa Diaz(Ricardo), Mary Ellen Mendez, Denise Pendergrass(Craig), Angie Acevedo(Raul Sr,) and Gina Mendez, 13- grandchildren Angelica Ratliff, Melissa Melendez, Gabriel Jimenez, Alfonso Gonzales, Raymond Mendez, Alex Martinez, Raul Acevedo Jr., Darce Mendez, Jasmine Shepler, Ashley Mendez, Abraham Gonzales, Marisa Rodriguez, Tiana Acevedo, 13 great- grandchildren Andre Melendez, Antonio Gonzales, Jeff Alberto Jr., Adrian Mendez, Gabriel Rodriguez, Anthony Rodriguez, Jayden Alberto, Ailani Ratcliff, Avery Gonzales, Aubriella Acevedo, Anuhea Ratliff, Christian, Audrina Shepler, brothers Raymond, Frank, Art and Richard Mendez, sisters Virginia Hinojos, Yolanda Stern and Vanessa Mendez,

Joseph was born on April 25, 1940 to Raymond & Nora Mendez. Joseph was a loyal and hard working man his whole life. He worked for AT&T company for over 32 years and retired as a Lineman. He loved to climb the telephone poles and especially proud of his work truck. One of his grandson said, " He would give us grandkids rides in his truck". Joseph loved to watch cowboy movies, working in his yard, sports and most of all his Family. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A viewing will take place on Tuesday, June 30 from 5:00pm-9:00pm with a Celebration at 7:00pm and a Prayer service on Wednesday, July 1st at 11:00am both in the Serenity chapel located at Funeraria del Angel Humphrey: 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, CA 91910. Joseph will be laid to Rest at Holy Cross Cemetery:4470 Hilltop Dr. San Diego, following his service on Wednesday.
