He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 20, 1924.
He was a Sergeant with the U.S. Army and served as a radio operator in China during World War II.
He was a graduate of Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh with a Bachelors in Engineering.
He was married to Donna Northrup Tabler on February 25, 1956. Mom passed on March 10, 2010.
Dad was retired from the Naval Primary Standards Lab at NARF North Island, San Diego where he made many friendships and was well respected by all who had worked with him or met him. Before that he worked at General Dynamics Convair for many years in San Diego and before that at Blaw-nox manufacturing in Pittsburgh.
He was a member of the San Diego Genealogy society. He was an avid photographer and leaves behind so many memories on film. He was also a former member of 4-H.
But mostly he was a great Father who was caring, supportive, very smart and most of all funny. Anyone who knew him knew he was one of the funniest people you've ever met. Dad had an unusual sense of humor which some people took a little bit of time to get but once they did you really enjoyed hanging around him.
He is survived by son George Tabler, daughters Barbara Tabler, Catherine McClintock and Jeudi Chilson and by his grandchildren. Brianna Tabler, John Tabler, Wesley McClintock and August (sweetie) Chilson.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery at 10:30 am on Monday, January 27, 2014. Please be sure to arrive 1/2 hour early.
