Preceded in death by his parents Manuel Esquivel & Maxima Cadena, sister Georgina, sister Raquel, and brother Tomas. Felipe is survived by his wife of 48 years Edith; daughter Angie & son-in-law Gary, daughter Camille, daughter Veronica, and daughter Yvonne & son-in-law Ricardo; grandchildren April, Whitney, Tabitha & Tristan; great-grandchildren Natalia, Jon Jr., & Evelena; nieces & nephews Gina, Jorge Luis, Gerardo, Ricardo, Paco Jr., Martha, Rachel, Luis, Paulo Cesar and god-daughter Rosee; great-nephew Cesar & great niece Cyndi.
Felipe was born in Tlalhuelipan, Hidalgo, Mexico. He attended boarding school for elementary and middle school education. He traveled to the orchards of Oregon in the Bracero Program during the early 1940s to earn funds to purchase a butcher shop on his return to Mexico. This allowed him to support himself while he attended Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico City where he studied Architecture. Felipe moved to Tijuana, BC in the early 1950s and began his career at an Architecture firm. His professional contacts in Tijuana paved the way for a professional move to Los Angeles in the mid 1950s, and a residential move to Imperial Beach in 1957.
Beside a lifelong love of Architecture, Felipe pursued his varied interests in painting & landscape design, got his pilot license to fly small aircraft in the 1970s, loved world travel, and turned his love of photography into a side business since the mid 1970s that was based first in Tijuana and then Imperial Beach. Felipe participated in various professional organizations such as American Institute of Architects (AIA), Toastmasters, and Freemasons.
Felipe loved seeing his family gathered around the table for birthdays, holidays and just getting together to spend time together.
