Dennis left his hometown to join the U.S Navy. He made a career of this venture working his way up the military ladder as a Postal Clerk retiring as an E-6, First Class. He then went on to work at the Veterans Hospital as a Medical Clerk.
On November 1, 1986 Dennis married Vivian Reyes. Their union was blessed with 31 years of marriage, until his passing. He is survived by his wife Vivian Pope, his children; Edward Pope (Tina), Vance Pope, Debra Rolfson, Daryl Pope and Cheryl Gibbs. His surviving siblings are Kevin Pope, Robert Pope, Greg Pope, Jeffrey Comstock, Linda Corcoran and Mary McNamara. In addition, his legacy includes 7 grandchildren.
Dennis will be remembered for his love of watching sports on television. His favorite, the San Diego
Padres baseball team, and then there was football and basketball. He enjoyed spending time with the grandkids watching movies.
A two visitation for Dennis will be held Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday, April 1, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Funeraria del Angel Chula Vista, 753 Broadway, Chula Vista, CA 91910. A funeral mass will occur Monday, April 2, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael Church, 2643 Homedale, San Diego, CA 92139. A funeral procession will then take Dennis to his final resting place at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr, San Diego, California 92122-5337.
