She leaves behind her son Fred Gaumnitz and his wife Debbie, daughter Diane Seaman and husband Bill, daughter Trinket Gaumnitz and Steve Barton. Many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sisters Emily Skaggs (Roger), Dorothy Jane Wiberg, and brothers John Wiberg (Jenny), and Ted Wiberg (Robi). Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews who she loved beyond words.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Fritz Gaumnitz, her parents Ted and Jean Wiberg, sister Mary Lee Howland, and brother Carl Wiberg. Her nephews John N. Wiberg II, Roger E. Skaggs II, niece Brenda Sue Howland and great granddaughter Mina Gaumnitz.
Vera was born in Merced, California and attended schools in Merced. In 1953 she married the love of her life Fritz Gaumnitz. They made their home, had a business, and raised their family in Chowchilla. Vera worked as an aide for the elementary schools when her children were in school. Later she went to Anthony's School of Real Estate and sold real estate for Boyer Reality in Merced, California. In 1990 she went to work for Madera County where she took great pride in being able to help people; she retired from the county in 2009.
She loved the Chowchilla community and went to various dinners that supported Veterans, First Responders, including the Canine dinner, the Foundation Dinner, 4-H fundraiser and when her grandson played sports she loved putting on football dinners for the football teams. Her favorite was attending all the school activities for her grandchildren and then her great grandchildren. She truly thought her grandchildren and great grandchildren made the world go round.
Vera lived a long happy and beautiful life. One of her favorite things to do when her children were still in school was to cook breakfast for their friends on Saturday mornings. Her famous silver dollar pancakes, bacon and eggs. Over the years she hosted many many family and friends dinners and holidays where all the families and friends would gather to celebrate.
Her greatest love was her husband and her family.
Services for Vera Jean Gaumnitz will be held at the Chowchilla District Cemetery, 23359 Road 14 1/2, Chowchilla, California 93610 on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:00 am.
