Mary “Jane” Joseph passed away on February 4, 2021, at the age of 83. She was born in Chowchilla, CA on September 30, 1937 to Fred and Eula Phillips. Jane grew up on the family dairy in Chowchilla, and loved to tell stories of her childhood. It was on the dairy that she developed her love for animals. She graduated from Chowchilla High School in 1956. Jane eventually moved to Salinas, CA where she raised her family.
Prior to retirement, Jane worked at Mission Linen & Uniform Supply as a Tie-out Clerk and Union Shop Steward for 30+ years. She took great pride in her duties as Shop Steward, traveling to Union Conventions to represent the Local Union.
Jane was a kind, caring woman that loved her family above all else. She was a wonderful cook and was always “game” to prepare whatever her family of sportsmen brought home. Her hobbies included baking, reading, collecting porcelain dogs, and cheering on the SF Giants. Later in life, she developed an interest in genealogy and made a few cross-country treks with her dear sister-in-law Erlene to research family history. Her children teased that they were the senior Thelma and Louise.
Jane is survived by her children Kelly Perkins, Glen Cook, Dennis Cook (Rhonda) and Brian Cook (Dianna), grandchildren Julia Anders (Jason), Christiana Saldivar (Raymond), Matthew Cook, Cole Cook, and Gavin Cook, and great-grandsons Josiah Saldivar and Michael Saldivar.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Velma Shelton and Lottie Green, and brother Dennis Phillips.
