Lowell Gene Merriam was born on January 28, 1948, in Eugene, Oregon. He was the 2nd child of Carl and Ruby Merriam. They moved to Chowchilla, CA in 1951. Lowell attended Chowchilla high school where he graduated in 1966.
In 1972, Lowell married Deborah Carty. They had 5 children together and raised their family on the farm near Chowchilla, CA. Lowell farmed for over 50 years. Anyone who knew him also knew that Lowell had a voracious appetite for collecting cars, motorcycles, airplanes, or really anything with a motor, running or not.
Lowell, 75, passed away on March 23, 2023, at the Mercy Hospital in Merced, CA. His wife Debby of 35 years preceded Lowell in death on August 6, 2007. Lowell is survived by his daughter Julie of Fresno, CA, his son Alex and wife Amy, and grandchildren, Ella, Lexi, and Max of Sanger, CA, his daughter Eilene and granddaughter Lorena of Fresno, CA, his son Carl and grandson Oliver of Billund, Denmark, and his son James of Fresno, CA.
Services will be held on April 11, 2023, at 10 AM at Cornerstone Church, 208 Fig Tree Rd, Chowchilla, CA 93610. Graveside service and reception to follow.
