Leona "Yvonne" Carlton met her Heavenly Father on November 17, 2024 surrounded by love and cherished memories. Born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska on April 10, 1947 to Marjorie Mae and Allen Austin Batchelor. Yvonne was a beacon of love, faith, and resilience throughout her 77 years.
On October 3, 1964, she married the love of her life of 46 years Jerry Carlton. Together they ran their company Mobile Recycling for 20 years and raised three beloved children. Their partnership was a testament to hard work devotion and love.
Known to her grandchildren and great grandchildren as "Gammy," Yvonne was the heart of her family. She gave each grandchild a special nickname and even named some dolls in her collection after them. Always ready for a chat, Yvonne was the family historian, holding precious stories and memories with the connected generations. She spent years teaching Sunday School, sharing her joy and wisdom with the young ones. Her devotion to her faith was evident in her dedication to attending church every Sunday, often accompanied by her grandchildren. At her dinner table, no one was ever a stranger, and she always had a meal for anyone in need.
Holidays in the Carlton house were warm and full of joy. Yvonne meticulously decorated and maintained traditions, with her entire Victorian Christmas Village and a plate of her homemade oatmeal cookies brought smiles to everyone who walked through her door. Yvonne led her family in prayer before meals, emphasizing the importance of thankfulness and togetherness.
Yvonne was an artist at heart. Her paintings and piano hymns were something she shared with those around her. As the neighborhood AVON lady, she found joy in connecting with her customers, many of whom became lifelong friends.
Yvonne is reunited in Heaven with her parents Allen and Marjorie and her husband Jerry. She is survived by her loving siblings Arlin Batchelor and LuJuana Steninger, her three children, Jerry "Butch" (Lynn), Jeffery, and Sheila Carlton. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Heather Richardson, Paige Norman, Sarah Calhoun, Jerry Carlton, Joshua Carlton, Jason Carlton, Jordan Carlton, Shelby Carlton, and Boyce Carlton, along with seventeen great grandchildren who will carry her love and legacy forward.
"Yvonne", "Gammy", "Mom", and "Sister", your presence will be deeply missed. Heaven has gained an angel, and we are comforted knowing you are home.
