Larry Gayle Plummer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 80 on December 15, 2024, in Fresno, California. He was born on May 24, 1944, in Waldron, Arkansas, to Lowell and Ruby Plummer.
Larry was a man of great generosity and a deep love for his family. He had a passion for fishing, hiking, arrowhead collecting, and spending time in the Sierra Nevada mountains, where he found peace and joy. A true master of the BBQ that would always bring the family together, he was known for his incredible storytelling, bringing laughter and warmth to all who gathered around him. His sense of humor and kind presence made him a cherished figure, especially among his children and grandchildren.
Larry graduated from Chowchilla High School in 1962 and went on to serve in the Army Reserves. He worked for Union Oil company, and became the proud owner of the Union 76 station in Chowchilla. He later worked for Valley Grain Products, and enjoyed a career that took him across the United States. In the later years of his life, he worked alongside his son in the IT industry.
Larry met Sue in 1963, and together they shared 58 years of a beautiful marriage. Over the years, they built a loving family, and Larry's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to live on through them.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Sue Plummer; his son, Stephen Plummer, and daughter-in-law, Lacy Plummer; his daughter, DaLene Plummer-Archibald, and son-in-law, Dale Archibald; his granddaughter, Carey Plummer; and his grandsons, Alexander Plummer and his wife Lani Plummer, Caleb Plummer, and Preston Plummer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Plummer; mother, Ruby Blaylock; step-father, Woodrow Blaylock; and older brother, Jerry Plummer, along with many other loved ones.
Larry’s love and laughter will be missed, but his memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Graveside Service for Larry will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Chowchilla Cemetery District, 23359 Road 14 1/2, Chowchilla, California.
