George "Ricky" Fredrick Metzner Jr.

At the age of 17, he forged his dad's signature, just so he could enlist in the Navy in 1942. He served in WWII and shortly after he was discharged. In May, 1946 he met the love of his life Ruby Jean Conner and they were blessed with 8 beautiful daughters. They lived throughout Oklahoma and California. Finally settling in Chowchilla, where they raised their 8 girls. He was also blessed with 22 grandchildren and 1 soon to be great great grandchild.

George was a loving husband, great father and awesome Grandpa. he was a very hard worker all of his life, working from the mill industry to farming. No matter where he went he always found a job to provide for his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vic and Ronnie and sisters, Jackie Pierce and Rosemary Flynn.

George leaves behind his 8 daughters, Gloria (Louie) Daniels of Molalla, OR, Pat (Gary) Willhite of Chowchilla, CA, Mary (Don) Spitzer of Eureka, CA, Judy Clairday of Chowchilla, CA, Lela Metzner of Chowchilla, CA, Vivian (Larry) Riemer of Joplin, MO, Tina (Brian) Middleton of Chowchilla, CA and Gina (Kelly) Yanders of Chowchilla, CA; 22 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren with 2 more soon to be; 21 great great grandchildren with 1 more soon to be and sister, Lela Callaway of Ponca City, OK.

Services will be held at Chowchilla Family Worship Center, 238 Kings Ave., Chowchilla, CA on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 1pm with graveside services immediately following.

Arrangements are under the direction of Palm Memorial Worden Chapel, Chowchilla, CA.
