Dan was born on June 18, 1931 to Joseph V. and Clara Branco. He had three brothers and a sister and was raised in Merced, Ca. He moved to Chowchilla in 1952.
Dan lived his life on his terms, always with his family in mind. He loved being with his kids and grandkids while keeping his horse close by with a rope in hand. He was a man of his word and a handshake meant everything. He instilled that characteristic in his children. He met Florence Maddalena in 1949 and they married in 1952 just before he was drafted.
Dan is survived by his wife Florence, son Steve (Kathy); daughter Dana Jo; son Larry (Jodi); grandson Sam (Vanessa) great-granddaughter Kate; grandson Stan (fiancée Nikki, son Ray); and grandson Roy. Also by all the special ones who affectionately called him "grandpa". His brother Eddie (Lee) also several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Dan was preceded in death by his brothers Stanley Branco, Lloyd Branco and sister Virginia Meyer.
Cowboying was always something that Dan loved doing, spent a lot of time in the practice pen as well as competing in the PRCA and Senior rodeos. With his sons, daughter-in-laws and grandsons as well as numerous friends. Dan and a few of his friends were the original founders of the Chowchilla Western Stampede.
A funeral mass will be held at St Columba Catholic Church, 213 Orange St. Chowchilla, CA 93610 on Monday November 30, 2015 at 10am. Interment will follow at a later date.
