Our Mother was born to Roy and Josephine Garcia. She was born the 5th of 11 living children. Grandpa Roy was referred to as “Wito” by all his grandchildren. He brought his family from Denver, Colorado to East Los Angeles. Our Mother was about 8 years old.
She had a passion for reading and school, she did it well. However, when she reached middle school she found it challenging due to a constant interruption…..and his name was, “Carlos”. She was 12.
Although she absolutely despised him in the beginning she obviously grew to love him deeply.
After marrying in 1952 they soon started their family, their son David was born. Five years later Roberta, and lastly 6 years later Diana. Their marriage lasted 70 years and had its ups and downs, but also a whole lot of love.
Our mom was blessed to be a homemaker and was wonderful at it. While our dad worked to provide for the family. Even though mom’s health issues impacted her physically.
She fought against these illnesses and for most of them she prevailed, until the end.
Her passing was not easy but she was surrounded by her family when she took her last breath and entered the arms of Jesus. Fully healed and reunited with our Dad and Brother.
Until we meet again our beautiful memories are what we will hold on to. We love you Mom, now and always.
