Mario Jose Alvarez was born on October 15, 1971 in Montebello, Ca. As a young child Mario was always happy and smiling. He enjoyed playing football in the rain with his brothers and spending time with his sister. At an early age, he began working at the local laundromat. He told his mom that he realized making money was more important than playing sports.
As a young adult he worked two jobs, a local grocery store and entertainment security, both of which he enjoyed. His jobs allowed him to be the social butterfly that we all knew and loved. He enjoyed helping people and getting to know their stories.
Shortly after, Mario became sick and was diagnosed with late stage Renal failure. Although at the time, he was given a short amount of time to live, Mario amazingly blessed us with his presence for another 22 years. His doctors, who had been with him from the beginning, were amazed that he survived so long and with such tenacity for life. They often told him that he had more lives than a cat.
Though his later years were filled with pain and the inability to live a normal life, Mario persevered. He never took any day for granted and enjoyed spending his time with his family, which he loved so much. He enjoyed watching movies and T.V shows with his mother Misty and enjoyed teaching his nephew Brandon about Star Wars, of which he was a huge fan. He loved his Raiders and loved barbecuing ribs for the family to enjoy on Super Bowl or Wrestlemania.
Though we miss him dearly, it gives us joy knowing that he is no longer in pain. His presence we miss, his memory we will treasure. Loving him always, forgetting him never.
Mario is survived by his mother Lydia Misty Gonzales; his brother John and his sister Trisha; his nephew Bobby, his niece Alyssa, his niece Brittany and his niece Taylor.
Mario was preceded in death by his brother Bobby Sr.; his nephew Michael.
We would like to say a special thank you to all of the doctors that devoted the past 22 years to making sure Mario was well taken care of and given the best treatment possible. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
